No original manuscript exists for any of his plays, so it is hard to accurately date them. We bought the Macbeth 'Plain Text' graphic novel when my 9-yr-old daughter took part in Macbeth: The Musical yes, really! The 'Plain Text' version 'translates' Shakespeare's words into modern-day English really.

I would suggest the 'Quick Text' is most accessible for primary school readers at the beginning of KS2, while confident Y5 and Y6 readers will be able to read the 'Plain Text' versions and Secondary School readers will enjoy the pacy graphic novel format combined with Shakespeare's own words.

It was completely engaging for them, rather than just being lines in a book. It was so much easier to then go back and look at the language that Shakespear used so they could understand the dialogue. I have some tough to teach groups but I was so surprised by how much they actually got into Romeo and Juliet by using this book. Without doubt the most beautiful visual piece of work to do justice to the most beautiful play ever written by the genius that is what should be Sir William Shakespear why is has never been knighted I do not know when you look back who has been knighted there is something seriously wrong when he hasn't after his works are still being published for nearly what years after his deaththat aside this is an amazing piece of work and I would recommend it to anyone don't bother about the quick text versions as there are many words missing in those versions.
